2021 Dances With Films Festival Review: “Over My Dead Body” Has Just Enough Drama To Keep You Engaged

When a young Jewish Persian-American woman tells her parents that her fiancé is Muslim, they make her choose between him and them.

After Isfahan (Nakta Pahlevan) announces her plans to marry, her parents are excited, until she reveals her boyfriend is actually Muslim and not Jewish. Tension erupts within the family forcing Isfahan to decide between her culture and true love.

“Over My Dead Body” is a beautiful drama with a strong, complicated narrative surrounding family, tradition, honor, and of course, the difficulties of following your own heart. I definitely recommend this film, it has an excellent cast and just enough drama to keep you engaged; especially if you’re in an interreligious relationship.

“Over My Dead Body” recently had its West Coast Premiere at the 2021 Dances With Films Festival
