Are these the remastered versions with digital effects or the original unaltered broadcast versions?
Hi John, this set does not contain the original unaltered broadcast versions. It strictly utilizes the remastered CGI versions alongside the original audio tracks.
If it’s the same as the previous Blu-ray releases, they will have both that you can toggle on and off in the settings.
You can even switch back-and-forth mid episode.
Classic case of toolazytoreadthetextbeforeyoureyeballitus, I mean? Christ wept John? “All 79 Episodes with Previously Enhanced Visual Effects”
60th edition will it have wide screen version
Awesome I want one because star trek is and will always be my favorite show.
Poor image of the Enterprise on this box. Not worth buying
You’re out of your mind, that’s an excellent impressionistic rendering there. It had a very 60s look to it.
No.No woke or impressionistic crap. They’ve nearly killed the franchise.
Woke!? You cant be a ST fan if you think woke is bad. ST IS woke. The ORIGINAL woke. The source of woke!
What audience is this aimed at? How many people that like Star Trek have not bought these discs already, multiple times? Then making it Amazon exclusive? Amazon has an obsession with paper bag mailers now. Yup, you read that right. Paper Bags. Have already received many a collectible damaged in transit due to the lovely shipper bag.
Any physical media buyer on Amazon already knows you never buy anything collectible on Amazon without ordering it using “gift wrap”… at slightly extra cost. That doesnt “guarantee” a box but it effectively does come in a box not a mailer. As to the target audience, its a limited run (read low quantity), there are still enough folks out there who might want it that it will probably sell fine. The risk to Paramount is pretty low given they put almost zero effort (read cost) into the release. Is it worth a double dip for collectors? Not hardly.
As for 4K, the quality of the source media is not worth a 4K upscale. They pretty much did what they could in that department to get it to HD. I love 4K but this will not scale better. I’m not even sure HDR will help beyond what we already have.
Why No 4K?!
4K darkens the movie, take Pirates of the Caribbean for example; Blu-ray looks much better than 4K. I vote for keeping the Blu-ray version.
UHD 4K Blu-Ray done right does not darken and looks way better than the standard Blu-Ray. 4K streaming, on the other hand, can have all sorts of compromises, depending on the streaming service.
I see people, and companies, upscaling old media and ruining it. If they can do it without altering, mutating, discoloring the original, I’m for a 4K release.
Even if they did these in 4k they would upscale it . It wouldn’t be native 4k resolution. The 1080P Blu Ray is very very good
Does this include the Pilots which ars not in my OS DVD??
Yes, it includes the original pilot episode “The Cage,” along with over 9 hours of bonus features.
I’m so glad I own the original, unaltered dvd sets
So this is the same blu rays we got before. I actually hate the way they package these. They prone to scratches and the disc don’t stay in place.
Sounds like a good set. But I have multiple sets now. Not sure if I need another special set.
They will dig us out of the grave to resell again and again.Mind you I do have The Wand Company phaser, communicator and tricorder.
I love the package of the original DVD set.
How much is the selling price?
