TV Review: I Loved “Turning Point: 9/11 And The War On Terror” And It Was Handled With Extreme Care, Bringing An Unbelievable Level Of Compassion

A cohesive chronicle of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the U.S., offering illuminating perspectives and personal stories of how the catastrophic events of that day changed the course of the nation. From the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979 to the country’s breathtaking collapse back into the hands of the Taliban just weeks before the twentieth anniversary of the attacks, history continues to be made.

Twenty years later, the memory of one of the biggest tragedies in US history still triggers deep sadness for many and for some, animosity towards the middle east. This five-part series highlights the turbulent relationship between the US and Afghanistan pre and post 9/11, answering the very questions of why it occurred to begin with and what lead up to the attack.

With powerful interviews including survivors of the attack, former US government officials, military, Taliban commanders, and Afghan civilians, the series does an amazing job of guiding you through the multiple experiences in a very clear and concise storyline.

I loved this narrative and thought it was handled with extreme care, bringing an unbelievable level of compassion equally for all, which is something I rarely see in TV Series’ covering this subject manner. A warning to those who still have a difficult time coping with the aftermath of 9/11, this series is extremely graphic including footage from the crash to bloodshed on the streets.

Releases globally on Netflix September 1st
