Movie Review: “My Name Is Pedro” Is A Heartwarming And Inspiring Story You’ll Never Forget

Lillian LaSalle’s documentary explores what public education meant to South Bronx Latino maverick educator, Pedro Santana, and what he, in turn, meant to public education.

Unable to thrive in a so-called normal education system, Pedro Santana found inspiration and understanding from one teacher who not only believed in him but understood his unique way of learning. Determined to make a difference, he grew up and became an educator dedicated to helping children succeed at their own pace. Pedro’s deep passion for teaching based on the needs of each student made him one of the most respected and loved.

He not only revived a failing school in his own community, but he also traveled to different countries teaching foreign students and helping to build their education system. This film is heartwarming, inspiring, and such a beautiful tribute to a man who will forever remain in the hearts of so many.

Now available on VOD and on DVD February 23rd
