TV Review: A String Of Unusual Murders Leads To The Capture Of A Satan-Loving Killer In “Night Stalker: The Hunt For A Serial Killer”

The limited docu-series “Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer” tells the true story of how one of the most notorious serial killers in American history was hunted down and brought to justice.

Between 1984 and 1985, a serial killer by the name of Richard Ramirez, tortured, raped, and murdered men, women, and children in the middle of the night. He admitted to a death row inmate to watching his victims until the wee hours before sneaking into their homes. His attacks were described as sadistic and ferocious, leaving no distinctive pattern, like other serial killers, and initially made it difficult to lead to an arrest until Gil Carrillo and homicide investigator Frank Salerno finally tracked Ramirez down.

This four-part series tells the story of two determined men who brought down one of the most deranged killers in American history. With interviews from law enforcement and survivors, along with footage of the crime scenes, you get a full preview of this intense horror that swept through Los Angeles. If you love murder documentaries, I’d say this one is pretty good but I do wish it would have included in-depth interviews with Ramirez. As a killer who was fairly open to the media regarding his evil desires and love of Satan, I think a few strong interviews would have given us a better understanding of who Ramirez was and why he committed such unforgivable crimes.

Available to stream on Netflix Wednesday, January 13th
