Theatre Review: “Trolls LIVE!” Is A Colorful, Kid-Friendly Production That Expresses The Value Of Time And Positivity

The journey begins when the Trolls’ Hug Time is unexpectedly put at risk. Knowing the only way to save it is by doing what the Trolls do best, Poppy hosts a toe-tapping, Trolls-tastic show! Poppy, Branch, Cooper, Cloud Guy, Smidge, Guy Diamond, Fuzzbert, Biggie (and of course Mr. Dinkles) invite you into the colorful world of Trolls Village for this interactive performance only the Trolls can create. This is one Trolls party you won’t want to miss!

The North American Premiere of “Trolls LIVE!” by vSar Entertainment, is the best thing that could happen to a kid who needs to be entertained, appreciated and given a powerful lesson on teamwork in one colorful event. The VIP Reception alone was filled with opportunities that were troll-worthy including a special visit from Poppy and Branch. Several Trolls’ activities were available for the kids to sing, dance and experience the life of a Troll, from being live on a stage to getting a full taste of troll cupcakes and a bag of goodies to take home.

At the beginning of the production, Poppy and her best friend Branch find themselves at odds with one another when Branch doesn’t agree that sharing hugs over and over in a hugfest is the best way to fix the time clock that has lost its tick due to an overload. With the clock needing several doses of perpetual joy to get it going again, Poppy comes up with an idea to have a talent show where all of her friends, Poppy, Fuzzbert, Branch, Cooper, Cloud Guy, Smidge, Guy Diamond, Biggie and Mr. Dinkles could do their best to show happiness. Branch, who is totally against the idea, thinks that a good set of tools and a bit of handiwork would take care of it. When Poppy decides to go along with her plan in spite of Branch’s disapproval, the clock seems to perk up by all the happiness created on stage. When Mr. Dinkles suddenly comes up missing, Biggie loses all of his joy and the clock takes on the new sadness making Poppy and her friend’s job more difficult. Poppy, with an ever-present air of positivity, finds a way to get Branch to participate and the entire group gets on a roll of happiness and the clock is inspired once again to tick. The icing on the cake is when Mr. Dinkles is found and the entire group has a reason to celebrate together.

The entire “Trolls LIVE!” production was a massive expression of color and mainstream technology that provided a vibrant, interactive experience for children and adults of all ages. Each of the Trolls was well equipped with dynamic moves and the capability of singing the infamous party songs that brought everyone together both on the stage and throughout the audience. The invaluable lessons of empathy, inclusion, teamwork, and positivity were promoted in a way that made it fun and exciting for energetic, appreciative youth to participate with upbeat selections such as “Best Day Ever,” “Hug Time,” “Got This Feeling,” and a show-stopping “Putting On The Ritz.” I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this powerfully, positive production.
