Theatre Review: “Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy” Makes You Feel Uninhibited And Warm And Fuzzy

“Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy” is an exotic encounter inspired by nature’s unpredictable creations that are brought to life by an international cast of soaring aerialists, spine-bending contortionists, acrobats, jugglers and musicians.

Neil Goldberg, who created and directed “Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy,” should receive nothing less than the highest praise for his work on this masterpiece. Every single aspect from beginning to end garners its own individual recognition for the quality and creativity that is exuded in every scene. The music, costume design, lighting, scenery and production are majestically in sync and are only surpassed by the boundless strength and energy of each of the Acrobats and Aerialists which bring the animals to life. The international roster of actors shows a central element of diversity that should be appealing to anyone from anywhere.

Every single scene had extremely talented actors that had honed their skills and were prepared to surprise the audience with their error-free performances. I can’t decide if the muscle-bound violinist, the two golden men, the contortionists or jugglers were favored more because all the them were great! The coordination of movement of the animal’s limbs or the aerialist’s body had to command an extremely high level of trust with each character and went a long way in building the expectations of the audience.

While I could easily refer to it as another jungle book story, it would be an injustice to ignore the fact that this performance remains one of the most critically acclaimed productions which has been attended by over 50 million people and is the first of its kind to debut on Broadway. Understandably so, the expertise of its actors that perform with no safety nets will leave you speechless, breathless or both while you anticipate the worst and are fooled over and over again.

In addition to the colorfulness of the characters, the scenes that involved audience participation were humorous and engaging, which made it a fun deal for everyone involved. Dreams Studios is probably thanking its lucky stars for having the foresight to develop long lasting relationships and partnerships that would provide a great deal of exposure that would catapult them to the top. Dallas’ own Sarah Childs who was featured in the role of Grasshopper is on an excellent career path that should lead there as well! This family oriented production and its vast array of magical animals is something you don’t want to miss!

“Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy” is now playing at the Winspear Opera House in Dallas thru Sunday, June 21st
