The Film Detective Proudly Presents “Crackdown: Big City Blues” On Blu-ray & DVD Nov. 20

Rockport, Mass. — Oct. 26 — Produced in the ’90s during the height of the crack epidemic in New York City, “Crackdown: Big City Blues” is a raw, docu-drama tackling the fight to keep drugs off inner city streets. With an important, anti-drug message which is equally as relevant today, the film has been restored in HD from the original 35mm film elements and will be available for the first time on DVD and Blu-ray November 20th from The Film Detective.

From independent filmmakers Paul DeSilva and Frazier Prince, a retired 20 year veteran narcotics detective with the NYPD who served as the key liaison and technical advisor to Fox’s “Americas Most Wanted” for more than ten years, and starring Rhonda Ross Kendrick (daughter of Diana Ross and legendary music producer Berry Gordy, “Protector of the Gods,” “The Last Dragon,” “Another World”), fashion model Jim Hill and Stu “Large” Riley (“Gotham,” “The Blacklist,” “Shaft”), “Crackdown: Big City Blues” illustrates the anguish, brutality, and violence associated with drug dealers in a community which wants to protect its citizens from the addiction epidemic.

Inspired by their own neighborhood’s struggle in battling the plague of addiction, DeSilva and Prince created Crackdown to raise awareness of the havoc drug dealers and gangs wreak on inner-city communities in the form of a gritty, action-packed drama.

“Crackdown: Big City Blues” has been restored in HD from the original 35mm archival film material. Proceeds are being donated to the Phoenix House Foundation and the Bronx National Action Network as the fight against drugs continues today. To purchase on Amazon click HERE.
