When a young woman arrives in Rome to find her missing sister, she meets a man searching for his missing father. They team up to fight their way through the Roman underworld in search of the truth. Brutal, hard-hitting fight choreography and outstanding action sequences​ highlight this blistering action epic starring Yaxi Liu (“Second Life,” stunt double on “Mulan”), Enrico Borello (“40 Secondi”), Sabrina Ferilli (“The Great Beauty”), Marco Giallini (“Perfect Strangers”), Shanshan Chunyu (“The Butcher’s Blade”), and Luca Zingaretti (“Rose Island”).

Gabriele Mainetti has won numerous awards for “The Forbidden City,” including Best Feature Length Film from the Catalonian International Film Festival in Sitges, a Silver Ribbon for Best Director from the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists, a nod as Best Director at the Italian Golden Globes, and a Jury Prize in the Crossovers Competition from Festival Européen du Film Fantastique de Strasbourg (FEFFS, shared with co-writers Stefano Bises and Davide Serino).

SYNOPSIS

From Gabriele Mainetti, director of “They Call Me Jeeg Robot” and “Freaks Out,” comes the action-packed tale of two strangers seeking the truth and vengeance. Mei arrives in Rome looking for her missing sister and, along the way, meets Marcello, who is desperate to find his father. Together, they will fight their way through the Roman underworld.
