A decade after abruptly breaking up with Naomi, Kris invites her to dinner to catch-up on their complicated lives, relationships, and Kris’ transition.
A couple reunites a decade after breaking up and discovers how deep unresolved issues still linger. Since their last encounter, Chris (Pooya Mohseni) has transitioned to a woman and deals with the challenges of not only living as Transgender in society but what it really means to be a woman. Naomi (Lynn Chen) realizes being a wife and mother is not what she expected as she’d sacrificed her dreams of being an artist for a mundane life. As the film progresses, their past relationship unravels and you discover Chris left Naomi abruptly without explanation, leading to resentment and an explosive ending where a painful secret is revealed.
The story is very powerful and addresses many important issues but it just wasn’t believable as I wasn’t convinced for a second this couple had a past relationship. I was a bit disappointed because I knew this film could have been great but the chemistry between the actors just wasn’t there.
