Sam Elliott, Nick Offerman & Katharine Ross Star In Director Brett Haley’s “The Hero”

Northern Lights, Park Pictures and Houston King Productions announced the cast of critically acclaimed filmmaker Brett Haley’s new film “The Hero.” Sam Elliott (“I’ll See You in My Dreams,” “Grandma”), Laura Prepon (“Orange is the New Black”), Nick Offerman (“Parks and Recreation”), Krysten Ritter (“Jessica Jones”) and Katharine Ross (“The Graduate”) star in the film which just wrapped production in Los Angeles. Haley and Marc Basch, who successfully partnered on “I’ll See You In My Dreams,” wrote “The Hero.” The Film was produced by Houston King (“Results,” “Anesthesia”), Sam Bisbee (“Infinitely Polar Bear,” “Cop Car”), and Erik Rommesmo (“I’ll See You in My Dreams,” “It Follows”). Financing was arranged by Gersh and WME. The film is anticipated to be released in 2017.

“The Hero” tells the story of movie star Lee Hayden (Elliott), whose career high as a Western film icon is now several decades in the past. Today he makes his living doing voiceovers, and spends most of his spare time smoking weed or hanging out with his pal Jeremy (Offerman). When Lee receives some life-changing news, he decides that he needs to prove his worth: he wants to reprise his celebrated role of “The Hero,” in a sequel to the beloved Western of the same name. He also wants to reconnect with his ex-wife (Ross) and estranged daughter (Ritter), but he’s not sure how to do it. Then he meets a stand-up comic on a journey of her own (Laura Prepon) – and begins to question the very meaning of success. It isn’t the Hollywood ending he imagined.

Haley’s last film, “I’ll See You in My Dreams,” was an unexpected hit out of Sundance 2015 and is one of Bleecker Street’s best performing films with a B.O of $7.5m.
