Poppy discovers that Branch was once part of the boy band ‘BroZone’ with his brothers, Floyd, John Dory, Spruce, and Clay. When Floyd is kidnapped, Branch and Poppy embark on a journey to reunite his two other brothers and rescue Floyd.
Just when I thought I was all trolled out, Dreamworks and Universal Pictures have drawn me back in one more time for a fully animated and musical version of one of the best Trolls’ movies ever in the 3rd installment of the franchise. While Poppy Branch (Anna Kendrick) is laser-focused on reclaiming her family for a reunion, she has no idea that bringing the family back together will also result in being connected with the Boyband group NSYNC, which has been pretty much dormant for the last twenty years. Planning a trip to VaCay Island seems to be the best decision Poppy and Grumpy Branch (Justin Timberlake) can make to connect with Grumpy’s brothers, who used to be in a secret Boy Band called BroZone, and also to make amends with their long-lost sister Vela and King Peppy, their dad.
The recurring themes of teamwork, building bridges, and not passing judgment play a heavy role in the film, so much so that the importance of having conversations around the dinner table and using music to be the foundation of historically bringing people together sets the tone for the entire film.
Without a doubt, Dreamworks has done well with Director Walt Dohrn at the helm of this musical blockbuster by appealing to both youth and adults. The feature is already a hit by not being afraid to combine music and family values. Its disbursement of colorful humor, drama, wickedness, and rekindling of relationships and forgiveness on all levels leaves an opening for yet another installment that could lead to any direction of hope for Poppy and her friends.
