“The Hollars” Debuts On Blu-ray, DVD & Digital December 6

Directed by John Krasinski (“Brief Interviews with Hideous Men”) and featuring an all-star ensemble cast, the touching family comedy/drama “The Hollars” debuts on Blu-ray™, DVD and digital December 6th from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Exploring themes of family and friendship in a warm, funny and heartbreaking way, “The Hollars” follows a man as he returns to his small hometown after learning that his mother has fallen ill and is about to undergo surgery. The acclaimed cast includes Sharlto Copley (“District 9”), Charlie Day (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”), Academy Award® nominee Richard Jenkins (Best Actor, “The Visitor,” 2007), Academy Award nominee Anna Kendrick (Best Supporting Actress, “Up in the Air,” 2009), John Krasinski (“The Office”) and three-time Emmy Award® winner Margo Martindale (Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, “Justified,” 2010; Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, “The Americans,” 2015 & 2016).

Bonus materials on the Blu-ray, DVD & digital versions of “The Hollars” include commentary with John Krasinski and Margo Martindale and three behind-the-scenes featurettes. Fans get a glimpse at the making-of the film with the featurette “The Family Trust: Inside The Hollars,” Margo Martindale discusses her life and career in “Persistent Vision: Margo Martindale,” and in a Q&A filmed at the LA Film Festival, Margo Martindale and Anna Kendrick join John Krasinski to discuss their experiences working together to tell this very special story.

Synopsis:

A struggling NYC artist, John Krasinski, is forced to return to the small middle-American town he left behind after learning about his mother’s illness. Back in the house he grew up in, John is immediately swept up in the problems of his dysfunctional family, high school rival, and an over-eager ex-girlfriend as he faces impending fatherhood with his NYC girlfriend.

From a script by Jim Strouse that is at turns hilarious and heartbreaking, John Krasinski’s second feature is a poignant look at the bonds of family and friendship.

Directed by John Krasinski from a screenplay by Jim Strouse, “The Hollars” was produced by John Krasinski, Tom Rice, Allyson Seeger and Ben Nearn, with Michael London, Janice Williams, Mike Sablone and Jim Strouse serving as executive producers.
