Blu-ray Review: I Was Rooting For “The Little Things” But It Just Didn’t Deliver

Kern County Deputy Sheriff Joe Deacon is sent to Los Angeles for what should have been a quick evidence-gathering assignment. Instead, he becomes embroiled in the search for a serial killer who is terrorizing the city.

When several young women turn up dead, Sheriff Joe Deacon (Denzel Washington) and Detective Baxter (Rami Malik) unexpectedly team up to find the killer. A local handyman named Albert Sparma (Jared Leto) becomes the main suspect and a close watch sets in on him throughout the film. An hour and forty into the movie leads you to more victims with no blatant proof that Albert is responsible. As Joe Deacon becomes more invested, his hidden past begins to unravel, revealing shocking details about the murders.

I rarely watch movie trailers but when “The Little Things” popped up in my feed I knew this film would be on the top of my list. I was rooting for it the whole way through but sadly, it just doesn’t deliver. The film includes an excellent Academy Award-winning cast and great performances but the story just didn’t come together for me.
