A woman struggling with insecurity wakes from a fall believing she is the most beautiful and capable woman on the planet. Her new confidence empowers her to live fearlessly, but what happens when she realizes her appearance never changed?

Amy Schumer is back on the big screen and pointing out the obvious in her own hysterical way in “I Feel Pretty,” a film about self-perception and self-worth that will keep you laughing for the entire 110 minutes.

Renee (Amy Schumer) plays an out of shape, single woman living in New York whose dreams seem out of reach. When an opportunity arises for her to apply for a receptionist position at a high-end cosmetics company, Lily LeClaire, she faces an internal struggle about her appearance. While taking a Soul Cycle class, Renee falls off her bike and hits her head causing her to see herself in a new, confident light. She is able to use this confidence in her personal and professional life, becoming the person she has always wanted to be.

Although her looks remain the same to everyone else, Renee sees herself as a different person, propelling her into conversations and situations she would normally avoid. Her bold transition attracts the attention of her boss, Avery LeClaire (Michelle Williams), the timid, soft-spoken face of Lily LeClaire who struggles in her own ways to be taken seriously.

Renee’s romantic life also picks up momentum now that she exudes confidence, and attracts her love interest Ethan (Rory Scovel) at the dry cleaners. Brother of Avery, Grant (Tom Hopper) is also enthralled by the up and coming receptionist to create the daydream of the rich, handsome man falling for the average girl.

Renee’s friends, Jane (Busy Philipps) and Vivian (Aidy Bryant) grow tired of her new ways which lead to friction between them.

After suffering yet another fall in her Boston hotel room, Renee awakes with the realization that she is back to her old self and, as you can imagine, she loses all faith until that one moment when she picks herself up and takes charge of her life.

As women, we all compare ourselves to what we don’t have or how we feel we measure up to what we see in magazines and on TV. Amy Schumer brings to light a serious message presented in a comedic fashion, that we are all beautiful in our own skin, we just need to believe it. If you are an Amy Schumer fan you will absolutely love this film! Michelle Williams’ character is an entirely different role than we are used to seeing her in, to the point I almost forgot it was her!
