“Wingstop Inside High School Sports” To Premiere Sat. Aug. 22 On NBC 5/KXAS Dallas-Fort Worth

“Wingstop Inside High School Sports” will premiere Saturday, August 22nd at 5:00 p.m. on NBC 5/KXAS. Hosted by NBC 5 Sports Reporter and Anchor David Watkins, “Wingstop Inside High School Sports” will allow viewers to follow their favorite high sports teams and get weekly game highlights, including all the exciting football and basketball action from across North Texas. After the first week, the program will air every Saturday for 31 weeks at 6:30 p.m. on NBC 5.

As part of the Wingstop High School Scholar-Athlete Scholarship program, Wingstop will recognize ten outstanding North Texas scholar-athletes with a $1,000 scholarship. One student-athlete will be featured every month on “Wingstop Inside High School Sports,” NBC 5 First at Four News on Fridays and on NBC 5 Saturdays at 9 a.m.

“The Wingstop High School Scholar-Athlete program is our way of saying thank you to the communities we serve throughout North Texas,” said Wingstop D-FW Advertising Co-op president Rex Heckelman. “These fine young men and women are amazing scholar athletes – it is an honor to recognize them.”

North Texas area varsity athletes who maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate outstanding commitment to community service are eligible for the Wingstop High School Scholar-Athlete scholarship. Nominations for the scholarship program can be submitted online at www.NBCDFW.com. The ten winners will be selected by an independent panel of judges. Athletic directors, coaches, parents and community members are welcome to nominate local student-athletes. All ten scholarship winners will be honored at the Wingstop Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet that will be held in June 2016 at NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth studios.

“Wingstop Inside High School Sports” will be produced locally at NBC 5 in cooperation with GameDay Productions.
