Written and directed by Brett Bentman (“Apocalypse Road,” “The Night Before,” “Kreep“), “Apocalypse Road 2” serves as the prequel to the original movie.
The plot follows the story of Hugo, the merciless killer from the original film, setting out to save his kidnapped family prior to the events of the first movie. It stars Lance De Los Santos, Tom Zembrod, Andy Arrasmith, Billy Blair, and Gwendolyn Murphy. Filming has begun and should wrap in early 2018 with a scheduled fall release date.
Director Brett Bentman states, “We built this ‘Apocalypse Road’ universe knowing full on that we’d love to expand the story one day. I felt this tug back to the film after all this time… there’s more to these characters and the beauty of the prequel is I get to show how we found these survivors in the first place.”
Expect the action to be turned up in “Apocalypse Road 2” as well as the gore. “In the first, film we kind of throw you into a burnt our fire pit, the smoke is still there and you can still somewhat smell the fire from the night before. In this film, we actually build the fire and let you watch it burn.”
