Vimeo Unveils The Best New Shows Not On TV This Fall

Vimeo announced today an exciting line up of shows coming exclusively to Vimeo On Demand this fall, including PJ Liguori’s “Oscar’s Hotel for Fantastical Creatures” produced in association with The Jim Henson Company; “Con Man,” a hilarious send up of an actor’s life after a sci-fi hit starring Nathan Fillion; and “The Parallax Theory,” a six-part sci-fi drama about the end of the world. An exclusive deal has also just been announced for season two of the LA-based series “Eastsiders,” written and directed by award winning playwright Kit Williamson.

“Vimeo is home to high-quality content direct from creators worldwide and this Fall we’re excited to be releasing some of the best new shows not on television with the highly anticipated releases of ‘Con Man’ and ‘Oscar’s Hotel’,” said Greg Clayman, General Manager, Audience Networks, Vimeo.

“Oscar’s Hotel” (Sept 15 | Now in Pre-order): Jim Henson’s Creature Shop™ brings the characters from “Oscar’s Hotel for Fantastical Creatures” to life as creator/director PJ Liguori (aka KickThePJ) transports the audience to a surreal fantasy universe. When hotel owner Oscar suddenly leaves on unexpected cosmic council business, his nephew Oliver becomes the new proprietor and his attempts to maintain order lead him to wild adventures with its eccentric guests.

Chris Kendall stars with an ensemble guest cast featuring Anna Akana, Grace Helbig, Mamrie Hart, Hannah Hart, Jake Roper, Mitchell Davis, Dan Howell, Phil Lester, Jack Howard, Dean Dobbs, Meghan Rienks, PewDiePie, Marzia Bisognin, Carrie Fletcher, TomSka, Steve Zaragoza, Andrew Ableson, Patrick Stewart, Alfred Molina, Elliott Gould, and more!

“EastSiders: Season 2” (Sept 15 | Now in Pre-Order): Set against the bohemian backdrop of the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, “EastSiders” is a comedic look at the area’s hip millennial population struggling to navigate life, love, and making the rent.

“EastSiders” was written and directed by actor Kit Williamson (“Mad Men”), who also stars in the series as Cal, an ambitious young photographer who navigates the complex world of modern gay life with his boyfriend, Thom, played by Van Hansis (“As The World Turns”).

“The Parallax Theory” (Sept 22 | Now in Pre-order): The six-part drama follows Jonathan, a young physicist, who alone holds the knowledge of an imminent cataclysmic meteor strike. As he tirelessly warns the world of impending doom, he is ostracized by those who fear the truth, forcing him to choose between what may be a futile attempt to save humanity, or making the ultimate sacrifice for his family. Created and Directed by Sawyer Hartman and starring Vincent Cyr.

“Con Man” (Sept 30 | Now in Pre-order): “Con Man” centers on the post-show life of Wray Nerely (Alan Tudyk) the co-star of “Spectrum,” a sci-fi series, which was canceled before its time and went on to become a cult classic beloved by fans. Wray’s good friend, Jack Moore (Nathan Fillion) starred as the series’ Captain and has gone on to become a major celebrity, while Wray (Tudyk) hasn’t found his desired level of stardom. Wray is the begrudging guest of sci-fi conventions, comic book store appearances, and different pop culture events; however, everything is not as it seems from the outside. The series explores these events and all the weird and crazy things that happen along the way.

“Con Man” features a plethora of Sci-Fi’s biggest personalities, including: Tricia Helfer (“Battlestar Galactica”), Amy Acker (“Person of Interest”), Gina Torres (“Firefly”, “Suits”), Sean Maher (“Firefly”, “Eastsiders”), Felicia Day (“Buffy The Vampire Slayer”), Seth Green (“Family Guy”, “Austin Powers”), Mindy Sterling (“Austin Powers”), Jewel Staite, (“Firefly”), Summer Glau (“Firefly”, “Terminator: SCC”), Sean Astin (“Lord of The Rings”), James Gunn and Joss Whedon.
