New York City, NY – September 8, 2025 – On the evening of September 4th, 2025, “Twin Towers: Legacy” premiered in front of 300 NYPD officers serving in the great city of New York, bearing silent witness as the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks seared the screen before them. “Twin Towers: Legacy” follows the family of one of their own who gave his life that day (Officer Joe Vigiano, whose story is told in the Oscar®-winning 2003 short-subject documentary “Twin Towers”), and how their journey through life without their beloved father and husband still affects them two decades later. Featuring Joe’s wife, Kathy, and their children, the film shows how Joe’s legacy of strength, respect, and honor has been passed down to his three sons, two of whom followed in their father’s footsteps as NYPD officers, the other serving in the Marine Corps. “Twin Towers: Legacy” is directed by Oscar® winner Robert Port and executive produced by Rick Dugdale, Barry Brooker, and Jonathan Lennox, and will be released on VOD and Digital September 9th. Lionsgate with Grindstone will be releasing this film on VOD for $5.99 and on Digital for SRP $6.99 this September 9th.

SYNOPSIS

“Twin Towers: Legacy” is a follow-up to Bill Guttentag and Robert Port’s 2003 Oscar®-winning documentary film “Twin Towers” about NYPD Detective Joe Vigiano, who gave his life as a 9/11 first responder in the elite NYPD Emergency Services Unit. At the time of his tragic death, Joe left behind a widow and three small children. “Twin Towers: Legacy” follows the journey of those children – now men – and their call to service in an effort to honor their father’s memory, first in the Marine Corps, and then as sworn officers in the NYPD.
