[yasr_overall_rating]

There’s rich and famous and then there’s John F. Kennedy Jr. No one has ever worn a heavier crown of expectations than John. How he navigates through them, not only reveals a complex and graceful man – but redefines the very nature of celebrity.

This series begins with the life and death of John F. Kennedy Jr., the Prince and heir to the throne of Camelot. A prince embraced by by the American people as he saluted the body of his father, Jack Kennedy, and the world mourned with him.

The Kennedys were a dynasty of powerful wealthy men who played the game of politics and were admired and hated for their success. Jackie Kennedy tried to give both John and Caroline some semblance of normalcy but they were always in the public’s eye and the American people hoped that one day, John would restore the Camelot magic so they waited.

Bobby Kennedy was a mentor and close friend to Jackie and her children but when he was shot to death in 1968, Jackie was terrified that her children had become targets. She made a very unpopular choice and for the sake of her children’s safety, married Aristotle Onassis, another very powerful and wealthy man but he saw to her safety. The marriage is unsettled and in 1975, he died of respiratory failure.

Jackie returned to New York and tried to fit in with the people of New York City and they embraced her. At this point, the children were now adults. John attended Brown University and started an independent life but the people were still waiting for their prince. He became an assistant D.A. and took the bar exam but failed, twice. On his third attempt, he passed.

He lived a charmed life, dated Madonna and other well-known stars and made a name for himself but that changed when Jackie died. He found Carolyn Bessette and eventually married her. The press made life very difficult for them, Carolyn was so like Jackie, the way she dressed and held herself and people were fascinated with her.

John’s magazine, ‘George,’ was successful because he used it to understand the basics of politics in the ’90s. On July 16, 1999, John, Carolyn and his sister-in-law Lauren Bessette, departed from New Jersey in a plane that John owned and flew, they were headed to Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts to attend his cousin Rory’s wedding but they never made it. After debris from the aircraft was located in the Atlantic Ocean, all hopes and dreams of Camelot died with him. This should make for a very interesting series.

Premieres tonight at 9/8c on Reelz Channel
