Theatre Review: “Peter Pan 360” Is Flying High With Energy And Excitement

Wendy and her brothers are whisked away to the magical world of Neverland with the hero of their stories, Peter Pan.

When I grow up, I want to be just like Tinker Bell! Having said that, J. M. Barrie’s “Peter Pan 360” as presented by Director Thom Southerland, is the most amazing tent event that I have ever witnessed! The transformation inside the world of Neverland will leave you breathless as the acrobatically-talented staff flies through the fairytale of the boy who never wanted to grow up. From the very moment the rounded stage opens up, the mesmerizing tale takes the audience on for surprise after surprise with the characterization adaptation of innocent childlike characters that experience love, loss and the power of defeat.

The story of Peter Pan was first performed in 1904 at Duke of York’s Theatre, London. Through the years, the Darling family which is the foundation of Barrie’s fairytale, has made its mark on society with the unforgettable impact of The Lost Boys who found a motherly figure who could do all except ease their transition through life’s unexpected wrath. Director Thom Southerland has formed a cast of characters that not only tell the story, but show the raw emotion that accompanies decisions which have accountability both early and late in life. In research of the back story, every member of the cast has a solid background in theatre, and every extension of the character’s personality represents a solid leader that has challenged his actors to move beyond the realm of expectation into the true identity of human nature at its best. While Peter Pan (Dan Rosales) gives an unforgettable performance, Tinker Bell (Jessie Sherman) stole the show with her physical antics that kept the audience rolling in laughter throughout the production. Captain Hook/Mr. Darling was played in a dual role by Stephen Carlisle and was a force to be reckoned with every time he hit the stage.

The 360 degree tent was an amazing idea that made a backdrop of 15,000 feet of high-projection resolution look like child’s play. I can’t imagine the work it took to set it up, and the work it takes daily for the actors to flex their muscles enough to dance, sing, talk, bark and fly through every showing without fail. Kudos as well to the amazing production crew that keeps it going, and an even bigger kudos to AT&T who had the foresight to bring this amazing experience to our doorstep! Peter Pan lovers will be in for an adventurous adaptation and those on the fence will be captured mid-flight! Don’t dare miss the excitement of it all!

Due to popular demand, MORE SHOWS HAVE BEEN ADDED! Now playing through December 6th at the Threesixty Theatre in Dallas
