“The Outpost” Explodes Into Theaters & On-Demand July 3

In this military thriller, based on The New York Times best-selling non-fiction book, ‘The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor’ from CNN’s Jake Tapper, a tiny unit of U.S. soldiers, alone at the remote Combat Outpost Keating, located deep in the valley of three mountains in Afghanistan, battles to defend against an overwhelming force of Taliban fighters in a coordinated attack. The Battle of Kamdesh, as it was known, was the bloodiest American engagement of the Afghan War in 2009 and Bravo Troop 3-61 CAV became one of the most decorated units of the 19-year conflict.

Orlando Bloom plays Captain Ben Keating. Director Rod Lurie, himself a former soldier and graduate of West Point, cast several other veterans of the American military in various roles, including Henry Hughes and Daniel Rodriguez.

Starring Scott Eastwood (“Suicide Squad,” “Pacific Rim,” “The Fate of the Furious”), Caleb Landry Jones (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” “Get Out”), Orlando Bloom (“Lord of The Rings,” “Pirates of the Caribbean”), Jack Kesy (TNT’s “Claws”, “12 Strong”), Taylor John Smith (“Sharp Objects”), and Milo Gibson (“Hacksaw Ridge,” “Brother’s Keeper,” “Gangster Land”).
