The Film Detective Proudly Presents “Whitlock: A Study In Starlet,” Available On DVD & Digital October 18

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s mystery-solving duo gets girl power in the gender-bending, Holmes-inspired mini-series “Whitlock: A Study In Starlet,” available on DVD and Amazon Instant Video October 18th exclusively from The Film Detective.

Starring Lauren Tess (also the show’s creator), Whitlock follows cantankerous consulting detective Sophie Whitlock and her new-age assistant Fawn Watkins as they solve crimes in sunny, sordid Los Angeles … Bringing a shot of estrogen to Baker Street.

In this original, five-part mini-series: When a body is found in the Hollywood hills and with no leads, Detective Ledet begrudgingly turns to Whitlock for help solving the case. With Watson in tow, the killer’s chances of getting away are slim … It’s elementary!

“The idea of creating Whitlock came about quite simply through my desire to be Sherlock Holmes,” recalled Tess. “Suspecting that there was little chance of my actually becoming a renowned consulting detective, or of my even being cast as Holmes, I was inspired to create this adaptation. Hope you enjoy watching!”

Said Phil Hopkins, owner of The Film Detective, “As huge fans of everything related to Sherlock Holmes, once we screened the first episode we jumped at the opportunity to distribute Whitlock. I’m delighted to be working with Lauren Tess on her original, new series which also marks The Film Detective’s first contemporary release.”

No other literary character compares to Sherlock Holmes, who has been portrayed in film more frequently than even Dracula or Hamlet. In the 130 years since Arthur Conan Doyle created the world’s only “consulting detective,” he, Dr. Watson, Inspector Lestrade, Mrs. Hudson and other beloved characters have been brought to the stage, written into novels by scores of writers and depicted on screens large and small.

“Whitlock: A Study In Starlet,” is presented in wide screen with an aspect ratio of 16:9 and Dolby Digital sound.
