The Dallas Film Society Announces Lineup For Annual Family Day Celebration

The Dallas Film Society announced today the lineup for its 2015 Dallas International Film Festival Family Day celebration, which is presented by CBS 11 and TXA 21, with support from Downtown Dallas, Inc. With a bit of carnival flair, Family Day includes activities, musicians and performances for filmgoers of all ages. The entirely FREE day of fun kicks off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11th at Klyde Warren Park in downtown Dallas and concludes with a free 30th anniversary outdoor screening of Tim Burton’s classic comedy “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure.” Food trucks will be serving up tasty goodies throughout the afternoon and evening.

At Family Day there is never a dull moment. Between scheduled sessions young film fans can show off their hula hooping skills, make paper planes, get their faces painted, jump in the bounce house and love on some real-life furry friends from Operation Kindness. Attendees can enjoy caricature portraits, courtesy of Univision TV/Radio, and visit the balloon artist at the CBS 11 tent to request their favorite balloon animals. Kids are also invited to take part in a variety of arts and crafts activities inspired by characters from “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure.” Movie lovers of all ages can channel their inner Pee-Wee Herman on a biking adventure of their own and are invited to join in on a 10-mile ride at 3:00 p.m. hosted by Slow Spokes DFW. BYOB (bike)! A Micargi Tahiti donated by Micargi Bicycles will be raffled off too! Before the evening screening begins, the Dallas Film Society will also host a Pee-Wee Herman costume contest.

“We are thrilled to host Family Day in the heart of Dallas with the support of CBS 11, TXA 21 and Downtown Dallas, Inc.,” said Renée Contreras, Director of Education, Membership and Outreach for the Dallas Film Society. “We look forward to entertaining families from around the metroplex with a free, fun and educational day of activities celebrating film.”
