Support AGFA On Reel Film Day March 5

Reel Film Day is an annual celebration of watching 35mm film prints in a jam-packed theater with celluloid-worshipping maniacs on March 5th – or 3.5. But it’s also a chance to celebrate the institutions that make this experience so meaningful.

To coincide with Reel Film Day, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is launching an initiative to support the American Genre Film Archive (AGFA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit in the Alamo Drafthouse family that preserves the legacy of genre films through collection, conservation, and distribution. Housing over six thousand film prints, a 4K film scanner, and theatrical and home video distribution arms, AGFA will never rest until genre movies rule the world.

From March 1-15, all movie tickets purchased at the Alamo Drafthouse will include an AGFA donation option. AGFA depends on your love and support to survive. To help the cause, all you need to do is add some extra bucks (in the increments of $1, $3 or $5) to any Alamo Drafthouse ticket purchase. By doing so, you’ll help AGFA upgrade their film scanner in 2019. This will ensure that exceptional genre films like MARY JANE’S NOT A VIRGIN ANYMORE (Sarah Jacobson, 1996) and SATANIS: THE DEVIL’S MASS (Ray Laurent, 1970) are preserved at the highest quality possible so that they can be enjoyed by future generations for years to come.

Tickets for Reel Film Day screenings in select Alamo Drafthouse Cinema markets are on sale now:
