Clairvoyant femme fatale Nicola Six has been living with a dark premonition of her impending death by murder. She begins a tangled love affair with three uniquely different men: one of whom she knows will be her murderer.
Great novels make great films, or do they? “London Fields” was built with a dynamite cast including Theo James, Amber Heard, Billy Bob Thornton, and Cara Delevigne. The story begins when Nicola Six (Heard) predicts her timely death. This puts us on quite an adventure while figuring out clues however something unfortunately just falls through.
There are a few men that are all connected through Nicola and we ultimately know one of them will inevitably kill her. There’s the writer, Samson Young (Billy Bob-Thornton), womanizer Keith Talent (Jim Sturgess), and rich banker, Guy Clinch (Theo James). Nicola Six is supposed to portray death itself but ultimately comes up short. There’s actually one part where Samson says to Nicola, “I’m pretty worried that the critics are going to call you a male fantasy figure,” and that’s exactly what she was.
Furthermore, even when a megastar pops up in one of the scenes, it’s too late to save this film. The soundtrack is definitely one of the best I’ve heard. Built with big band saxophones, it completes this comic book noir.
