Movie Review: A Woman Regains Her Power By Confronting Her Sexual Predator In “Tape”

Based on true events and set in New York City, “Tape” is the story of an aspiring actress (Isabelle Fuhrman) who crosses paths with the darker side of the entertainment industry.

This dark drama is a story of an aspiring actress who gets revenge against her sexual predator name Lux (Tarek Bishara) who manipulated her with the promise of fame and stardom. With hopes to expose and convict him, Rosa (Annarosa Mudd) wears a hidden camera and hides one in his studios to capture his sessions with other women. When Rosa meets Pearl (Isabelle Fuhrman) at an audition, she records her every move as Pearl displays the type of vulnerability and desperation that will undoubtedly make her his next victim. As Lux finally targets Pearl, offering her a position as his protégé, he knows she’ll do anything to further her career. Rosa painfully sits back, witnessing their interactions leading up to the moment she’s been waiting for. With enough evidence against Lux, she sends the disturbing tapes to a journalist who runs the story on national television.

This film is super important as it addresses so many issues concerning sexual harassment, manipulation and what happens when one feels powerless. I thought it was amazing to see the story told through both Pearl and Rosa’s eyes while they were both going through the experience together. When Rosa realizes she cannot save Pearl, there is an indescribable pain and disappointment she feels and we the audience suffer alongside her. Great film, very touching and real with a shocking ending you won’t expect!

“Tape” will be released via Virtual Theatrical Release March 26th and on Amazon, iTunes, GooglePlay & Microsoft April 10th
