LIFETIME Greenlights New Docuseries “Sing It!”

Lifetime has greenlit the new docuseries “Sing It!” (working title) following two cross-town rival a cappella groups from New Jersey as they are given a chance to work with the world’s best coaches and face off in weekly competitions. Vocal powerhouse Deke Sharon (“Pitch Perfect”) will stop at nothing to get his team, Stay Tuned from Cherry Hill, to come out of their shells and get them in-tune while a capella rockstar and performance coach Diana Preisler (“Blue Jupiter”) will guide The Voices from Allendale, to harmonize their way to a win. Over the course of eight episodes, the hour-long docuseries crescendos in a championship sing off. “Sing It!” is currently in production.

Sharon is contemporary a cappella’s most prolific arranger and currently producing The Sing-Off worldwide. He also served as arranger, on-site music director and vocal producer for the highly successful feature film “Pitch Perfect” and upcoming sequel “Pitch Perfect 2.” Sharon is the founder, director and arranger for the pioneering a cappella group House Jacks and has shared the stage with countless music legends, including Ray Charles, James Brown, Crosby Stills and Nash, Run DMC, The Temptations, LL Cool J and the Four Tops, and performed for luminaries including President Bill Clinton.

Preisler’s background as a singer, voice-over actress and performance coach has garnered her a reputation as one of the most respected a cappella coaches in the industry. Preisler has toured the world as the manager, artistic director and lead female singer of successful a cappella group, and international vocal sensation Blue Jupiter, and has been featured on Nickelodeon, the Huffington Post and Oprah. She can often be found sitting on panels of experts and judges for prestigious a cappella competitions around the country. She is the co-producer of the charity a capella competitions around the country, including the a capella festival, SingStrong.org. She’s graced the theatrical stage on multiple national Broadway tours, such as “Fiddler on the Roof” and “A Christams Carol.” Regional roles across the U.S. include Eva Peron in “Evita,” Ado Annie in “Oklahoma!,” Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz,” Linda in “Blood Brothers” and Shelley in “Bat Boy, The Musical.”

“Sing It!” is produced by All3Media America and Studio Lambert Associates along with with InsomniaTV, who conceptualized the project. The series is executive produced by Stephen Lambert, (“Undercover Boss”) Eli Holzman (“Chrisely Knows Best”), Greg Goldman (“True Tori”) and Glenn Schubert in conjunction with Lifetime’s Eli Lehrer, Mary Donahue and Colleen Conway Grogan.
