I’m sure that many of you out there have come into contact with Cancer in one form or another, either personally or through a family member or friend. One of our reviewers, Lori Buswold, was diagnosed with breast cancer on November 17th, 2014 at the age of 47. A few days before Thanksgiving she was in surgery. 5 days after Christmas she was in the hospital for a second surgery and a 3 week-long fight with a massive infection. Any hopes she had of a quick fix were rapidly slipping away.
32 rounds of radiation were ordered. It was an extreamly difficult treatment and she lost most most of the skin on the right side of her chest and armpit. As May rolled around she started to feel better…and then June hit her like a ton of bricks. Complications from the radiation landed her in the hospital and on IV treatments for almost a month.
This has become a much longer and harder fight for Lori than anybody would have ever thought. Most of the summer has been spent fighting radiation-related complications accompanied by two more surgeries before the year is out.
