Independent horror film, “Dead Story,” has suddenly been picking up steam ahead of its January 20the US VOD release. The film’s YouTube trailer has garnered more than 3 million hits, the majority of which has come in recent weeks.
First-time writer/director, Suneel Tripuraneni, attributes the sudden jump to old fashion grassroots marketing. The team behind “Dead Story,” focused all their efforts on social media, encouraging friends and family to share the trailer as much as possible. Eventually, the trailer indeed found its audience, and it began getting passed around the horror-fan communities.
“Horror is a fantastic genre with a loyal and excited fan base,” says Tripuraneni, “so we knew we just had to keep pushing until moviegoers in that base would find it and start sharing it with other like-minded audience.”
The film follows a young married couple who, after purchasing their first home, realize that either the house is selectively haunting only the wife, or she’s developing a delusional psychosis.
Produced by Jason Mcroberts and Sunil Tripuraneni.
STIF Entertainment has slated “Dead Story” for a January 20 VOD release.
