You likely know them from HGTV’s “Love it or List It,” or even “Love it or List it Too,” but influential DIY tastemakers and real estate gurus Jillian Harris and Todd Talbot work internationally as brand spokespeople, lifestyle content publishers, and marketing and design mavens.
Todd, who made his mark on the small screen early on while appearing on the Nickelodeon show “Fifteen,” along with Jillian, whose’ style is a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, and, while not too stuffy, not quite capable of having her design or fashion style described as rustic chic, spoke to a small group of bloggers at a media round table that I was lucky enough to be invited to cover on behalf of Irish Film Critic.
In an intimate sit down sponsored by Capital One, who will be working closely with Jillian and Todd at an event today, great luxurious home talk was thrown around by more than just the two experts in the room. One blogger, Candy Evans, announced that not only could you never be too rich or too thin, but that you could also never own enough homes. Of course this came while she chatted about her blog focused on luxurious second homes.
The DIY duo made jokes about only hanging out together when paid and also, briefly, honestly spoke about the importance of maintaining privacy, and individual lives through keeping their spaces as their own and never visiting each others’ homes; despite spending so much time together professionally and creating homes for others; side by side on what feels like a daily basis to the average “Love it or List It” fan.
They also gave practical tips, advice, and décor rules. Genuine advice from Jillian invited those who just might not have it when it comes to DIY improvement skills to embrace it, and to let someone else take care of it. Or to accept it and decorate the space you feel will be your forever home in exactly the way you’d like to. And of course, the importance of real flowers in the home was stressed.
