DVD Review: “Minnie’s Happy Helpers” Is Lots Of Bright, Fun Cheerfulness

[yasr_overall_rating]

When Minnie and Daisy aren’t racing around Hot Dog Hills, they’re helping their friends with fun, odd jobs as The Happy Helpers. And no task is too big or too small for them to tackle!

This DVD is a fun film of 6 episodes of helping stories, each one featuring the beloved Mickey and Minnie Mouse characters so familiar to generations of Disney fans. The animation is typical Disney style with soft, round drawings and plenty of bright colors. The stories are not only simple and easy to follow, but the short story episodes are ideal for capturing a child’s attention. The stories are also fun for adults too with all the loveable funny jokes like a pie in the face or a runaway “fast food” trailer and even a few oddities such as pepperoni pudding.

However, the “happy helpers” theme may be a bit misleading for parents who might be hoping for story type instruction about helping for their young viewers. The stories are indeed about helping, but most of the circumstances are just fun, silly opportunities of helping from fixing a clock to making sure a mama hen makes it home to her hatching chicks. Honestly, the stories are a little too removed from how most children learn about helping in real life.

Still, between the slapstick humor, adventurous disasters, and friends who always stick together, the young and the young at heart will always enjoy Minnie and her friends. And parents will be more than grateful for the help of a little quiet time while their little ones are happily entertained with good, simple fun.
