Dallas Comic-Con Fan Days Adds More Celebrity Guests & Activities

As anticipation builds for this fall’s most exciting fan adventure, Dallas Comic Con Fan Days presented by FAN EXPO adds even more celebrity guests and activities to the event, which takes place Oct. 16-18 at the Irving Convention Center. More than 20,000 fans will geek out to their favorite stories, characters and actors from the worlds of comics, sci-fi, TV and film. The excitement now includes:

“The Karate Kid” Reunion

“Wax on . . . wax off.” If these words mean something deep and philosophical to you, then no need for any more patience, young grasshopper. You can unleash your inner child of the ’80s and celebrate as actors Ralph Macchio, William Zabka and Martin Kove gather for “The Karate Kid” reunion at Dallas Comic Con Fan Days. They will be signing autographs and taking photographs with fans all three days and answering your lifelong questions during a Q&A. Will we see a demonstration of Daniel-san’s winning front kick? Who knows!

New Fashion Trends: Steampunk. Lolita. Cosplay.

While the cosplay trend has become full-on fashion fun for adults, too (who doesn’t want to dress up as their favorite character, even without trick-or-treating?), certain flavors of this trend have become a couture fashion experience that you can’t even see on designer runways. What began as a literary sub-genre has become a full-fledged flavor of cosplay — steampunk — a blend of England’s Victorian era, America’s Wild West, sci-fi fantasy, and a salute to modern technology and mechanics. The Japanese Lolita street fashion movement a marriage of Victorian elegance and romance and modern childhood innocence has hit North America, where it will be on full display at Dallas Comic Con Fan Days. Meet these fashion artists and shop for gadgets, costume pieces, and collectibles.

Expanded Artist Alley

An absolutely unbelievable number of renowned comic book artists, more than 20, will be attending Dallas Comic Con Fan Days. As master creators of our favorite legends, these artists are the source of our dreams to fly, control time, be invisible, or however our favorite superheroes save the world. This year’s comic guest of honor is Chris Claremont, known for his 17 years of legendary work on Marvel’s The Uncanny X-Men. Fans can meet the artist masters behind Star Wars, Vampire Diaries, Conan, Ghost Rider, and many more. Many artists will be offering limited edition prints, commissioned work, and original pieces for purchase, as well.

Added Guests

Newly added to the constellation of stars at Dallas Comic Con Fan Days are actors Martin Kove (“The Karate Kid”), C. Thomas Howell (“The Outsiders”), Renee O’Connor (“Xena: Warrior Princess”), Anna Silk and Zoie Palmer (“Lost Girl”). Voice actors Steve Blum (“Cowboy Bebop,” “Star Wars Rebels”) and Mary McGlynn (“Ghost in the Shell,” “Naruto”) will also be on-hand to sign autographs and take pictures with fans.
