Celebrate Women’s History Month At The Alamo Drafthouse

Women’s History Month is here, and we’re celebrating the only way we know how – by playing a ton of awesome, female-centric films.

While we appreciate and cherish all of women’s contributions to cinema (and the rest of society or whatever), we really wanted to focus on one in particular, the incomparable Tilda Swinton. We’ve got a full lineup of T-Swint classics for you in our “The Many Faces of Tilda Swinton” series, along with the release of her latest, PROBLEMISTA. Revisit four of her most lauded performances in MICHAEL CLAYTON (she won the Oscar for that one), ORLANDO (immortal, gender-flipping excellence), SUSPIRIA (three Tildas for the price of one and a Drafthouse Recommends), and ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE (the coolest vamps in town). Head over HERE for tickets and showtimes and worship with us at the altar of Tilda.

Of course, Tilda Swinton is just one of countless accomplished women in cinema, and we’ll be showcasing many other female-centric, directed, and acted films throughout the month, such as writer/director Noora Niasari’s SHAYDA starring Zar Amir Ebrahimi, writer/director Rose Glass’ LOVE LIES BLEEDING starring Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian, director Thea Sharrock’s WICKED LITTLE LETTERS starring Jessie Buckley and Olivia Colman, and director Gillian Armstrong’s LITTLE WOMEN (1994) starring Susan Sarandon, Winona Ryder, Kirsten Dunst, and Claire Danes.

Want to see a great movie AND give back? Add a donation to PERIOD. to any ticket throughout the month. They’re a non-profit organization dedicated to providing education and free menstrual products to communities in need and supporting them is as easy as adding a $1, $3, or $5 contribution to your ticket at checkout.

Conversely, if you want to see a great movie AND get a little something extra for yourself, then be sure to stop by on International Women’s Day, March 8th. While supplies last, we’ll be giving out limited-edition, letterpress-printed Bechdel Tests with every ticket. More than just an awesome keepsake, this custom-designed test form can help you think more critically about the films you watch. This exclusive collectible was a collaboration between The Press Room and Power & Light Press, a New Mexico-based, woman-owned print shop.
