Fandango is reporting that its sensational presales for Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” (opening March 8th) are surging past presales for previous superhero origin stories, including “Wonder Woman,” “Aquaman,” “Deadpool,” and “Doctor Strange” at the same point in the Fandango sales cycle.
Fandango’s top five superhero origin stories in presales (two weeks before release date) are:
- “Black Panther” (2018)
- “Captain Marvel” (2019)
- “Wonder Woman” (2017)
- “Aquaman” (2018)
- “Deadpool” (2016)
- “Captain Marvel” is currently pacing to be Fandango’s third top pre-seller among Marvel Cinematic Universe titles, behind “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Black Panther.”
“‘Captain Marvel’ has a great ‘90s sci-fi vibe with a tone unlike any other Marvel movie,” says Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis. “It’s one of the most unique superhero origin stories we’ve ever seen.
