Are You The Ultimate Movie Buff?

If you spend a little time on social media these days, you’ll realize that the traditional definition of a movie fan has changed over the years. A decade or so ago, individuals who showed interest in comics and films were often considered as geeks, even treated as outcasts sometimes. However, there has been a significant change in people’s perception, and rightly so. Now, there seems to be a whole lot of people with varied interests, and watching films is often just one of them. This makes the average movie buff, not someone who is only passionate about cinema. Even filmgoers, who enjoy films regularly, can have a decent conversation about them, and most importantly believes in the sacred pact that “no one shall talk while watching a movie in a theatre,” is a bona fide film lover.

Not to undermine the average filmgoer, but there is a distinction between those who like films and the ones who are obsessive about movies. It’s that extra effort they put in that brings about a difference in their thought process and often their lifestyle. In case you are wondering which specific category you are in, and if you have the right to call yourself a film buff, check whether you do the following.

Do You Visit Comic Conventions and Premieres?

There once was a time when film promotions primarily consisted of posters and TV adverts followed by a mega premiere. But with so much money at stake, along with the growing popularity of stars, there are more and more events held before movie releases. A real film fan makes it a point to visit director talks, film analysis sessions, premieres, and of course the many comic conventions that take place around the globe. These events are not only a great place to get the latest information on films, but also the perfect opportunity to interact with fellow enthusiasts and discuss the one subject everyone has in common, movies.

Do You Play Movie-Themed Games?

Movie-themed games and apps are on the rise now. At one time, these attractions were of interest to only video game players, which is a niche audience. However, thanks to mobile phones and better internet connectivity, we see films entering the gaming market through app collaborations and online casinos. A film buff will have some form of movie-based entertainment with them at all times. It can be a Jurassic Park online slot game on their mobile, the latest Spiderman video game on their console or even an app like Minions Rush which is a fun little game worth a chuckle.

Do You Collect Stubs and Posters?

This one is all about film nostalgia. With digital tickets becoming more and more common now in theatres, it is only a matter of time before movie stubs will be forgotten. But if you are a true film fan, then you must have been collecting theatre tickets all this time. If not that, then at least film posters, or any other sort of memorabilia that brings you a little closer to your favorite stars and movies.

Do You Have Action Figures?

Lastly, action figures are by far one of the best ways to prove you are a film fan. Not only are they amusing to play with, but these “toys” make for excellent collectibles too. Nowadays, there seems to be a liking for cheaper vinyl figures that are to some extent mass produced. However, they do add a dash of color and entertainment value to whatever room you place them in. But then you would know that since you are the ultimate film buff.
