Back in 2009 when the reboot of “Star Trek” was released, fans hoped that William Shatner’s iteration of the famous space captain, would make an appearance. Sadly, he would not materialize. With “Star Trek into Darkness” fans hoped for the Shat and once again, he was a no-show. Well now it appears, with “Star Trek III” getting ready to go into production in the near future, word has come out that William Shatner’s Captain James Tiberius Kirk, will indeed appear in the movie.
Mr. Shatner told reporters at Wizard World Nashville, that J.J. Abrams, the director of the first two Star Trek movies and who is now directing a little indie movie called “Star Wars: Episode VII”, called him out of the blue and stated that while he is indeed producing the new Trek movie, the film’s director, Roberto Orci, mentioned that he had an idea that would bring back an aging Captain Kirk that could possibly involve him and his old Vulcan pal, Spock.
The Shat said he’d be delighted to return, considering the fact that his character was killed off in “Star Trek: Generations” back in 1994 but with today’s technology, filmmakers can resurrect characters that have been long dead and bring them back in an instant. Just watch “Alien: Resurrection” for proof of that. Thoughts?
