Movie Review: “American Justice” Scores With The Old Yet Tireless Theme Of Tough Cop vs. Corrupt Cops

[yasr_overall_rating]

Jack Justice is an LAPD cop who is suspended from the police force due to his reckless actions while fighting crime. Jack travels to a Texas border town and teaches the corrupt sheriff his brand of lethal justice.

I love action flicks and this did not disappoint. An old, yet tireless theme of the loyal tough cop teaching an entire corrupt police department a lesson is featured in this film. We meet Jack Justice (Tommy ‘Tiny’ Lister) whaling on a burglar that just shot his partner. This indiscretion affords him a quick dismissal from his current employment. He randomly ends up in a small border town and witnesses a pair of rogue cops doling out dishonorable punishment to a resident of the town.

Justice quickly gets arrested to quell his observations on the matter. Sheriff Payden (John Schneider) plays the part of a dishonest cop well and it is fun to see him as I remember him well from his days with the General Lee. There are some tough dudes in this film that are relentless with language and fighting; however, Justice is by far the scariest.

The rest of the film is a series of shoot’em up scenes and characters that beat the snot out of each other with tons of stereotypical language associated with every small Texas town. The acting is decent and Justice is believable as the uncontrollable bad-ass cop. Officer Alexa (Vida Guerra) plays the only honest police officer in the department and quickly becomes targeted by the other bad cops. She and Justice fight the bad guys with some laughable dialogue that reminded me not to take the film too seriously.

This is a predictable film with not much substance. But if you enter in knowing it will be a fun, action-packed, almost comedic film, you will not be disappointed.
