Last summer, TNT’s “Rizzoli & Isles” topped the charts as basic cable’s #1 series. This June, it’s coming back for more. Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander star in the hit drama as Boston’s toughest crime-solving duo. Season 6 of “Rizzoli & Isles” is set to air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) on TNT, starting June 16th, with episodes available across TNT’s VOD, online and mobile platforms each Wednesday.
In “Rizzoli & Isles,” Harmon plays Jane Rizzoli, a tough-as-nails Boston police detective. Alexander is Dr. Maura Isles, a smart, impeccably dressed medical examiner from a privileged background. Despite being complete opposites, the two women share an offbeat chemistry, an authentic and deep friendship and a unique working relationship. It’s a killer combination that helps them put even the most dangerous criminals behind bars.
In addition to Harmon and Alexander, “Rizzoli & Isles” stars Bruce McGill as Sgt. Detective Vince Korsak, her steady, old-school Homicide Squad teammate; Jordan Bridges as Detective Frankie Rizzoli Jr., Jane’s younger brother; Idara Victor as Nina Holiday, a former-cop-turned-crime-scene-analyst; and Lorraine Bracco as Angela, Jane’s meddling mother.
Season 6 of “Rizzoli & Isles” will add a wide array of cases to Jane and Maura’s docket, from a high-end art heist that gives them chance to do some undercover work to an emotionally raw murder investigation targeting one of their own fellow detectives. They’ll even wade into the cutthroat world of competitive bass fishing in order to hook a cold-blooded killer. In addition, Scottish actor Adam Sinclair (“24: Live Another Day”) will guest star in several episodes as Kent Drake, an assistant medical examiner completing his six-month internship in Maura’s office.
“Rizzoli & Isles” launched in 2010, finishing its first year as basic cable’s #1 new series. Each year since, it has ranked as one of basic cable’s Top 5 series with total viewers, as well as one of basic cable’s Top 10 series with adults 25-54. The show topped the charts last summer as basic cable’s #1 series, with 7.6 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery. It was also the #2 series (behind TNT’s “The Last Ship”) among adults 25-54 and ranked among the Top 5 with adults 18-49 for the summer. When incorporating TNT’s multiple platforms, including live viewing, DVR playback, set-top VOD and digital on-demand, the summer run of “Rizzoli & Isles” reached a total of 13.6 million viewers per episode.
