On February 24th, Severin Films proudly presents the worldwide Blu-ray debut of the explosive Mafia drama “Lookin’ Italian,” the first cinematic leading role for megastar Matt LeBlanc (“Friends”), featuring a transfer scanned in 4K from the original camera negative and loaded with hours of bonus content.
After barely surviving a mob war in New York City, Vinny Pallazzo (Jay Acovone, “Stargate SG-1”) retired from the Mafia and moved to Los Angeles. He lives a low-profile life working at a used bookstore and looking after his nephew, Anthony (Matt LeBlanc, “Lost In Space”). He doesn’t want his nephew to end up dead like his father, who was also in the Cosa Nostra. This is not a simple task, since the impulsive Anthony loves living the L.A. lifestyle. He rarely shows up for work because he’s too busy seducing women, running a poker game, breaking into showbiz, and partying with his friends at various nightclubs. He craves the fast life. Vinny fears Anthony will be recruited by Don Dinardo (John LaMotta, “Ninja III: The Domination”) to join his organization’s new West Coast operation. Can Vinny persuade Anthony that their family is more important than The Family?
Writer/producer/director Guy Magar (“Retribution,” “Stepfather III,” “Children of the Corn: Revelation”) describes “Lookin’ Italian” as “a tribute to Martin Scorsese.” The long-lost independent movie explores the mobster life beyond what’s found in “Goodfellas” and “Casino.”
After making “Lookin’ Italian,” Matt LeBlanc would gain international fame as Joey Tribbiani on “Friends.” The cast also includes Grammy-winner Lou Rawls (singer of “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine”), Ralph Manza (“Godzilla”), Gloria Hendry (“Live And Let Die”), and Denise Richards (“Wild Things”). The film’s score was composed by Jeff Beal, who won an Emmy for his work on USA Network’s “Monk” and the Netflix hit, “House of Cards.”
