Movie Review: “Coming Clean” Is An Important Film That Will Change Your Views Surrounding Drug Addiction

“Coming Clean” examines America’s opioid crisis through the eyes of the recovering addicts and political leaders on the frontlines. These unlikely allies emerge from the darkness to face their pain, bring the profiteers to justice, and rebuild in the wake of the deadliest drug epidemic in our history.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 750,000 people have died from drug overdose since 1999. One of the most astonishing facts is drug overdose involving opioids has, since then, increased almost six times. With these scary statistics, you’d assume opioid use would have decreased but it’s not that simple. For many users, a prescription meant to treat pain from an injury quickly spiraled into a full-blown addiction that cost many of them their lives.

“Coming Clean” lifts the veil of shame and stigmas surrounding drug abuse offering compassion, understanding, and solutions that will help push for treatment and recovery. This is an important film that will change your views surrounding drug addiction, accountability of pharmaceutical companies, and the responsibility of our government to step in help fight this epidemic.

In Virtual Theaters Friday, January 22nd
