DVD Review: “Dead West” Is A Deathly Blow To One’s Consciousness

[yasr_overall_rating]

A charismatic serial killer embarks on a murderous cross-country road trip in search of true love.

Summary:

A serial killer comes to Texas to wreak havoc everywhere he goes. He finds his victims and asks them on dates before ending their lives. A man whose sister was slain by him tries to keep up. Visiting every venue this butcher has struck at, he eventually catches up to him. Successfully trapping the serial killer in his car, he finds out more disturbing details about his beloved sister. Will it be too late for the brother or will the “Dead West” remain deceased?

Technical 2/5

I personally felt the stunts were awful. It was very clear that the punch he threw didn’t actually hit him. The fake blood was also noticeable and looked to be of ketchup and candle wax. Instead of his eyes glowing, it was his aviator sunglasses with a red tint. When it comes to special effects, this movie does not convince me one bit.

Story 1/5

What a boring premise and idea. I truly believe that leaving the bodies behind would get you caught. I felt there should’ve have been more authority than a single lone ranger trying to right the wrong. There is no real climax, only when the movie ends.

Overall 1/5

I disliked the whole experience. What attempts to be a western is actually written off as a malicious pervert chasing different suitors. His murders don’t really advance the plot and he just randomly finds these people. It’s clear that the director didn’t know what he was doing for most of the film and decided to just slap everything he could find together.
