New York, NY – August 27, 2024 – IFC Films and Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thriller and the supernatural, announced today that they have acquired the North American rights to Steffen Haars’ “Get Away” (previously titled “Svalta”), written by Nick Frost (“Paul,” “How to Train Your Dragon”), and starring Frost, Aisling Bea (“This Way Up”), Sebastian Croft (“Heartstopper”), and newcomer Maisie Ayres. The film will world premiere at Fantastic Fest 2024 in September and will release exclusively in theaters on December 6th, followed by its Shudder debut in 2025.
In “Get Away,” a family’s vacation to a remote getaway takes an unexpected turn when they discover the island they’re on is inhabited by a serial killer.
“Get Away” is financed by XYZ Films, which produced the film alongside John Hegeman of Wayward Entertainment, Lee Kim of Resolute Films, and Nick Frost. Richard Kondal for Big Safari is co-producer, with executive producers Vince Totino of Wayward Entertainment and Patrick Fischer of Creativity Capital.
