Several decades after the events of “Gladiator,” Lucius — the grandson of Rome’s former emperor Marcus Aurelius and son of Lucilla — lives with his wife and child in Numidia. Roman soldiers led by General Marcus Acacius invaded, forcing Lucius into slavery.
