1091 MEDIA Acquires Highly-Anticipated UFO Documentary “The Phenomenon” For Theatrical Release In 2020

New York, NY. – November 13, 2019 – 1091 Media today announced the North American theatrical and digital acquisition of the highly anticipated UFO documentary “The Phenomenon.” Directed by James Fox and narrated by Peter Coyote, “The Phenomenon” features never before seen archival footage, and interviews with key eyewitnesses, experts and officials including former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid; President Clinton’s White House Chief of Staff and advisor to President Obama John Podesta; former Deputy Undersecretary for Defense Intelligence Christopher Mellon; former U.S. Energy Secretary and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, noted scientist Jacques Vallee who worked served as a scientific consultant on Steven Spielberg’s “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” and many more. The film will be released in theaters nationwide in June 2020, followed by a digital release in September 2020.

James Fox is one of the most respected filmmakers working as an investigative journalist to solve the UFO enigma. For more than 25 years he has traveled across the world in pursuit of the truth about the phenomenon and is a strong proponent for government transparency of long-withheld information, some of which the film shows are now coming to light. Fox has been featured on programs ranging from CNN Newsroom to Larry King Live over the past few decades on the subject of UFOS. His first documentary Out of the Blue premiered on the Sci-Fi Channel and has since had more than 30 million views combined on multiple digital platforms. “I Know What I Saw” premiered on the History Channel, and also found a massive fan base, with Steven Spielberg calling the film “compelling.”

Peering into 70 years of history, right up to fresh discoveries that challenge everything we know, “The Phenomenon” combines never-before-seen archival footage with interviews with eyewitnesses, experts and officials, that leads to an unsettling, unavoidable conclusion: We are not alone. But “The Phenomenon” goes beyond proving the existence of UFOs to asking why are they here? what are they trying to communicate? The Phenomenon was directed by James Fox and written by award-winning author and filmmaker Marc Barasch and Fox.

Director James Fox commented, “I’m excited to have joined forces with 1091 and a brilliant team of collaborators on my latest feature-length documentary film, ‘The Phenomenon.’ Twenty-five years into investigating unidentified aerial phenomena, I’m faced with the unavoidable fact they’re real, they’re global, and we’re potentially dealing with a form of consciousness that shares our world and impacts our lives in powerful ways. Our team has assembled the most compelling testimony and evidence from around the world that will lead even the most ardent skeptics to the inescapable conclusion that we are not alone.”

Adds writer/producer Marc Barasch, “This film explores not only the reality of UFOs, but their challenge to our preconceptions about reality, our collective life on this planet, and really, our place in the cosmos. The public’s growing realization of the UFO presence — lately ratified by the U.S. Navy on the front page of The New York Times — amounts to a new Copernican Revolution. We hope our film will have a provocative cultural impact, framing a new understanding, and catalyzing fresh ways of looking not only at “The Phenomenon” but at ourselves and the ever-evolving future of humanity.”

Jim Martin, Vice President for 1091 Media added, “We are thrilled to be partnering with James to bring his most stunning work to the widest audience possible.”
